Bride for Rent: a breaking box-office record

Isn’t it amazing?

Isn’t it exciting?

Isn’t it surprising?

Bride for Rent is a breaking box-office record, as it hit Php100 million in just four days in cinema nationwide. Compared to their last film “Bakit Di Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo?” which took over two weeks to earn Php100 million. Bride for Rent is a Filipino romantic-comedy film directed by Mae Czarina Cruz and written by Carmi Raymundo. It is the second team up of Kim Chiu and Xian Lim on the big screen.

Bride for Rent is a story of a young sassy and a funny girl named Racquelita dela Cruz aka Rocky (Kim Chiu) who went for an audition for the role as a Bride for Rent to help her struggling family. The groom named Roderico Espiritu aka Rocco (Xian Lim), a stubborn guy wanted a “Pseudo wife” in order to get his trust fund from his grandmother. Unfortunately, Rocco’s grandmother named Lala (Pilita Corales) insists on a church wedding for the couple, so the couple had no choice but to agree. The plan was that they would part ways as soon as Rocco gets his trust fund but things turn out differently, they realized that they are beginning to fall for one another.

Bride for Rent is not just a typical romantic comedy but teaches us important lessons in life that marriage is not just a marriage. It is sacred because it is a sacrament between two persons who love each other and also the lesson there is about forgiveness and learning to be a better man. Indeed, there’s a line there saying “When you know how to say sorry, you’re a step closer to becoming a better man”. And in addition to that, the lesson there is about love and cooperation of every member of the family. These lessons we may apply it in ourselves.
